IMO settles date for global use of low-sulphur fuels

Apr 26, 2017

2016 was a good year for Hull Vane, but it’s already certain that 2017 will be even better. Our sales in the first quarter of 2017 exceeded those for all 2016.

A lot has happened globally which has revived the interest in energy saving devices. The IMO settled the date for the global use of low-sulphur fuels on 2020, and there is no doubt that this will increase the price of marine fuels globally.

Fuel cost

There seem to be very few doubters left that emitting CO2 increases global warming and that we should reduce it as much as possible to avoid higher costs. Difficult market conditions in the offshore sector have made ship owners realize that the most fuel efficient vessels are the first to get a charter contract. Shipyards have experienced that designs with the lowest lifecycle costs win tenders. We go full steam ahead with Hull Vane – building a sustainable and efficient business is as much our goal as making ships more efficient.
